Help Employees Quit Smoking in 2010

Good news!

A recent study by the University of Michigan and Harvard researchers found that smoking rates have declined 20% in the past 15 years. If all US adults quit by the year 2020, life expectancy would increase by five quality years!

Quitting also saves US businesses more than $3,000 a year per employee in direct medical costs, and lost productivity.

And now is a great time to address smoking in the workplace: Quitting is one of the top New Year’s resolutions for both men and women.

So how can you help spread the non-smoking message to employees?

The New Leaf: Living without Tobacco Smoking Cessation Program provides targeted resources that support both the administrator and smokers in smoking cessation goals.

The all-digital Administrator’s Resource ToolKit is everything you need to plan and promote a smoking cessation program in the workplace, including:

  • Step-by-step instructions on executing a successful smoking cessation program
  • Ready-made marketing materials to spread the word
  • Readiness-to-Quit Assessment to determine which employees are ready to change
  • Suggestions on best practices for creating and executing a tobacco-free workplace policy

And the Quitter’s Kit supports employees every step of the way. They’ll get:

  • Step-by-step guidelines to help them prepare to quit, survive withdrawal and prevent relapse
  • Friends & Family Guide to educate the smoker’s support system on helping him/her succeed
  • A tracker that helps the smoker identify and remove triggers and temptations

The New Leaf: Living without Tobacco Smoking Cessation Program is an easy way to promote tobacco cessation at an affordable price for 2010.

Take steps now to target smoking in the New Year—when employees quit, everyone wins.
