You’ve no doubt sold your staff on the merits of walking workouts; now how about upping the ante?
Maybe they’ve already formed a lunchtime walking group or gotten hooked on evening laps around the neighborhood. Now would be a good time to encourage them to push themselves to the next level.
Setting both short- and long-term goals is an important aspect of any fitness routine. Keeping a record of those little (and not-so-little) achievements along the way help keep motivation going strong.
For example, if someone starts out walking just 10 minutes a day and gradually but steadily increases the duration, each step up toward the goal (say, 30 minutes a day) is a milestone to be recognized.
Reaching longer-term goals, such as participating in a 5K run/walk in the community, can boost confidence and keep the drive alive.
Encourage your employees to celebrate the small victories and set themselves up for some bigger ones along their path to better health.
