Eating meals, chatting on the phone, listening to voicemail and checking e-mails — all normal work-related activities, right? Right, except these are typical activities today’s employees may be doing while driving. The Drive Safely Work Week (DSWW), sponsored by the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS), was officially last week, but you can promote safe driving anytime.
The campaign addresses driver focus and the importance of concentrating on the driving task at hand. According to NETS, work-related traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for employees in the U.S. workforce, taking a heavy toll in human life and health as well as costing employers millions of dollars. To download DSWW 2009 campaign materials and advisories, including promotional ideas, visit NETS.
“Regardless of one’s job title, getting home safely is the most important thing anyone will do today.”
